how would I fix my car after the timing belt going while in motion?
while driving my volvo 460 1.9td my timing belt snapped, will the valves be damaged and how do I go about finding out? at the time when this happened I was travelling about 20mph and did try to start it after stopping several times.
if its an interference engine it is more than likely that you have had piston to valve contact and bent your valves. your pistons may have also been damaged. remove your cylinder head to inspect the damage. If you remove your spark plugs and look where they sit in the head..you may find bits of metal which would more or less tell you that damage has occured.

i think the valves will be bent and you,l be lucky if thats the only damage, the only sure way to find out is remove the head
