how can i fix my Philco Ecotronic WM1000SE Washing Machine?

I have been told that the carbon brushes may need replacing, as it stops when it gets to deep rinse. How do i get the brushes out, to check them, as i do not want to damage them, by doing it wrong, or forcing them.

tony if the brushes have gone it wont drive the drum at all
if its getting stuck in a program and you have to manually turn it past then the timer is going
