how can I fix my LT1000? Won't start. Clicks but nothing else?

I replaced the battery, put a new solenoid in. Still nothing. The ammeter shows 0 at all times. Any help? Starter should be fine. I used a screwdriver and jumped the 2 red connetors and the motor turned...Help!

The tractor was working and would start but the battery kept losing power. I charged it and it wouldn't hold a charge. I put a new battery on it and got nothing. I checked the with my voltmeter and the new battery seems fine. When I replaced the solenoid, I made sure to clean the plate it would get attached to so it can ground properly.

As far as whether it is coming from the fuel or starter solenoid...It is coming on the side that the starter is on....as far as I can tell....

I'll check with my meter tonight. I have to run to work. Thank you for all the input!

Is the solenoid pulling in? What was happening before this problem occurred? Was rider working recently?

Sounds like the solenoid isn't getting juice, check with meter. 12V when key turned? Could have bad switch or bad ground at solenoid (rusty/dirty screw connection)... Is the clicking from the starter solenoid or the FUEL solenoid under the carb? Need to answer the above questions first...

Thanks! I'll try it. Real quick though, could the seat switch not be engaging/working?

If the starter motor turns the engine when you jump the solenoid, either the solenoid is not being engaged, or the solenoid contacts are not making the connection from the battery to the starter. If you have a good charged battery, and hear (and feel) the solenoid click, the solenoid may be bad. Can you connect a voltmeter or test light to the starter side of the solenoid? If you get voltage (test light lights) when you hit 'start' solenoid is okay. If not, solenoid is bad. Out of the box bad parts happen. Remove the spark plug wire before testing to prevent unexpected starting, let's be safe.
