I just replaced the filament in my hotpoint electric stove. I noticed the?
connector to the yellow wire was fused to the covering plate. But, as it was, it wasn't close enough to the filament plug. So I broke it loose to plug the filament in. Now, when I plug the stove in, the stove acts like I've turned the oven on as high as it will go. The dial is set in the off position. This is obviously a problem. And I'm not really sure what to do. Could it be bad wiring? I find it hard to believe that the switch pot broke as soon as we plugged the new filament in though... yeah, it's a hotpoint electric stove, model # r b787w b1ww, serial #hv214699h I'd appreciate any feedback.
