Mend Potterton 2 Boiler Pressure

potterton 2 goes over pressure in heating mode?

every time you switch the heating on the boiler goes over pressure immediately (from 1 bar to 3 bars within 1 minute). The pressure is fine on start up and the water side is fine.

Potterton Potterton 2 Heating, Home Heating Systems Boiler Pressure Potterton

There is a part in the rear of the boiler called an expansion vessel, this is to compensate the rise in system pressure with temperature.
I suspect this needs to be replaced, although it is normally easier and cheaper to fit an external vessel to the system.
