Mend Ariston Micro Genus Combi Couple Central

Ariston Micro Genus Combi Boiler Keeps Shutting down?

The boiler keeps shutting down after a couple of minutes operation. This can be either central heating or hot water. A yellow warning light illuminates. The manual says this is due to defective discharge of exhaust fumes. The exhaust fan can be heard operating normally. Tonight the boiler started giving off an unusual smell (NOT Gas but maybe electrical???) so I've shut it down completely. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks
