No display on Sharp 56FW-53H?

My Sharp widescreen is not switching on. The red power LED is on but the tv doesn't 'boot up' (sorry, it's been a long day I can't think how else to describe it).
I'm assuming a part has probably burnt out but can't seen to track down what needs to be replaced.
Any advise on the problem and if appropriate what part I'm likely to need would be much appreciated.
If you can offer tips on how to fit the part then it would be handy, it's not worth taking it in for repair and I kind of fancy having a go myself, it's broken anyway so what harm could I do.....
