how can i fix my ford focus?

hi i left my oil filler cap off mine and since then my temp gauge does the same thing but at the cold end would that be the same thing on mine its a 51 plate 1.4

Sounds like your engine temp sensor which is in direct contact with the cylinder head. check connection behind rubber bung between plugs 2&3.Also it could be loose. As it's a use once only youcould try replacing that 1st.Make sure it's torqued down correctly. Have you been having starting problems ?
