How can I fix my Kenmore Dryer Model 110.60992990? PLEASE Help!!!?

This morning I turned on my dryer just like any other day, but today it had a pair of my son's sneakers in it to be dried. I've done this before and NO problem. This morning, however, the dryer started just fine & ran for about 5 minutes. Then for no apparent reason, it just quit! I tried turning it on again, thinking that maybe the sneakers had accidentally "kicked" the door open. Nope! Now when I turn the timer on & push the start button, I hear it 'click' & I hear the timer working fine but nothing else happens. Not to sound too pitiful, but I'm a single Dad trying my best to raise my son & I really cannot afford a hefty service call fee, so if anybody could assist me, I would be forever in your debt!
