Getting lid off Bemis dual flush cistern?

Hi
I am unsure as to how to remove the lid of my cistern. I thought the metal ring in which the two flush buttons sit would unscrew, but having tried it doesn't seem to want to know.
Any ideas

push down one button gently and look at side of other button,if there is a small groove use a screwdriver to prise the button up and you will be able to do the same to the other button and there will be a screw,undo screw and lid should come off,refit is reverse of removal
