how to get a user manual.?

I pressed the "Skip" key for 2 seconds and heard "English selected". This was after 6 months of hearing the phone in spanish and actually shutting off the answering machine because everyone thought they had dialed the wrong number.

Thank you so much! I had to help my mom fix her phone too because it somehow changed from english to spanish. I was attempting to fix the problem from the handset but that just wasn't working although the english setting was set but the announcment on the base unit was still in spanish. Holding the skip button for 2 seconds fixed the problem in 2 seconds. Thank you Riley and thank you Jorge for responding to Benjamin's question as it was very helpful to me. Thanks again.

You can't use the handset to change the language used by the answer machine part of the phone.... To do that you must press and hold the skip button for 2 seconds on the answering machine/base set.... I just downloaded the manual to 26998GE1-B to fix the same problem with my mom's 26998GE1-D, they are pretty much the same phone!

It is very simple. Check your user manual on page 9.
SETTING THE DISPLAY LANGUAGE
1. Make sure the phone is OFF (not in TALK mode).
2. Press and release flash/program button until 1 ENG 2 FRA 3 ESP shows in the display. The default setting is English
3. Use the handset number pad or press the left or right arrow buttons to enter the desired setting. For example, to choose English press the number 1 key.
4. When finished, press and release flash/program button again to store the setting.
