How do I replace the timming belt on a 1996 Ford Escort?

tricky job for a novice,should buy haynes manual for step by step instructions,after a new belt is fitted turn the engine over with a spanner if it dont lock up try the key,that way you will not damage your engine if the belt is fitted incorrect.
