How do you oil Hamilton mantel clock?

I have a Hamilton 82/340-020 mantel clock that runs but will not chime and has not been oiled in a long time. I have a hypodermic needle and wonder if I can oil it with a machine oil with the hypodermic needle? There is a small bar with a sticker on it reading
"Lift" on the inside back of the clock - what do I do with that? Is part of the maintenance program?

Thank you.

yes, it is alright to oil with machine oil. just put a small drop on each rotating point on back and front side, not the main shaft that the hands are connected to. i think the "lift" arm is just to silence the chimes. hope this helps.

You may want to make sure the lever that says lift is not holding your chime hammers down on the chime rods. This would prevent the hamers from lifting to chime. Most clocks come with this lever for shipping however it can just be lifted up to release the chime hammers. if this is the lever you speak of
