Can anyone help to get my insignia out of a start loop?

I have an insignia ns-da1g MP3 player that i have used quite well for the past few months. For some reason, every time i try to start it now, all it does is show the product picture then on the next screen is the "file & folder" then loops back in the start sequence and never goes anywhere. I have done everything i can to reset it, with no effect. I have also tried the firmware update, and it can't complete because it doesnt show the device as connected when it is. Is there anything else i can do like "reprogram" it or something else?
