Flashing glowplug warning light?

I have a 97 ford galaxy 1.9tdi and the glowplug warning light is flashing

Check that the brake lights are working - a common fault is the brake switch, control unit expects brakes to be applied during a journey, otherwise thinks it is a fault

the flashnig glow plug light is the engine check light on these same as vw diesels (as its the vw engine) needs to be plugged into diagnostics scanner to get fault code.
