how can i stop my new home sewing machine from sewing backwards?

my new home sewing machine has started to sew backwards whilst i was messing with the stitch length setting model number 748000275

All you have done is moved the stitch length too far to the smaller stitch, after a certain point the machine will sew backwards, select a longer stitch length and it should work, if it still sews backwards the the lever is probably stuck, a drop of oil shouls cure it.
