Matsui DV3 set-top box frozen with green & red lights both on?

On turning the TV on and then trying to turn on the Matsui DV3 (Top Up TV) set-top box the box is showing a green light for power but is ALSO showing a red light for remote activity. When I use the remote to try to turn the box on nothing happens. Both lights should not be on but I can't get the red remote light to turn off or the remote to work. Changing the remote batteries makes no difference and neither does turning the power off and on or the TV off and on. I don't have the manual anymore and wonder if someone knows the trick to unfreezing the box? Many thanks if you know and respond to this question.
