There is a hatch on the underside of the 600e that can be opened by loosening one screw. Inside you will see the 2 DIMM boards, each with 4 memory chips. On each end of the boards there is a rounded metal tab.
Gently spread those tabs and the board will pop up at an angle. Hold it by the ends (don't touch the surface) and pull it out of its holding slot.
Use compressed air to blow out any dust from the slot and then slide the board back into and out of the slot 4 or 5 times to clean the contacts. Do that with both boards and then snap each back down into position and put the cover back on.
Computer techs make their living on the 99% of people who don't have the balls to open the thing up and LOOK. Circuit contacts develop corrosion and oxides. Most of the time a problem involving memory just means things have gotten dirty and need to be cleaned.
You're not going to hurt it, and if you're successful you've saved a pile of money.
