Indesit W143?

The machine just stays on one program. I just put it onto 1, 2, 5 or 9 etc. it doesn't budge, it would wash on that programme forever if I let it. ( but I don't think it heats the water up) If I then switch it off for 10 minutes and click dial onto 4 and a bit it will continue on the rinse and spin sequence until finished, without a problem. If its on 2 and I switch off and leave 10 mins and click it onto 3, the dial clicks itself round to 2 again. Is this a dial problem and can it be fixed? Many thanks, Kay
