Mend Vauxhall Astra Battery Starting

astra wont start!!?

m reg 1.7 turbo diesel astra van ..have changed the alternater and battery , will start of jump leads but when i take them of after about an hr the van wont start and the baterry is then flat , have the right voltage coming from the alternater but its not returning the power to battery??
