How cdan i fix Hotpoint WM62?

The washing machine works fine once I have got it going, the problem is the door, I have to keep hitting it till the door locks, when the door is closed it wont turn on automatically I can be standing there for up to ten minutes trying to make the door connection work so the machine will start.
any ideas????
