I had an Alpha boiler in my last house , the diaprgahm in the flow control valve split regularly resulting in no not water , but heating still worked , could be same thing. You can buy just the diaphragm , you don't have to buy the whole flow control valve. It is easy to replace , but the maunal would hepl to prevent get water every whwre when if you change it.
You can test this but operting the micro switch mounted on the valve ( the valve is gold coloured with a swich mounted above a pin. When you operate the switch you should get hot water.
