Mend Lervia KH4000 Sewing Machine Explain

Stitch selector on Lervia KH400?

Lervia KH4000 sewing machine.
Please can you explain how to get the stitch selector dial to turn to R, S and T ( which are all in red on the dial) it turns easily until Q, but then will not turn any further. I have tried with needle up, down...correct length and width, with button hole foot on and off etc.
