Corby Trouser Press Pad Refurbishment
The manufacturer advises that they do not supply replacement pads and they have confirmed that the units cannot be dismantled due to their construction. Apparently the unit is assemble using rivets and glue!
However, after much internet searching and perhaps taking a gamble I have now manged to replace the 'pad' and all seems to be working okay.
The product I have used is:
BLACK NEOPRENE PLAIN SPONGE/FOAM RUBBER SHEET 1M WIDE X 1.5mm
The minimum length as 1m and so I have some spare.
The item was bought from a supplier on ebay:
CAMTHORNE INDUSTRIAL SUPPLIES
Steve McIntyre
Unit A Cinderhill Industrial Estate
Weston Coyney Road
Stoke-on-Trent
Staffordshire
ST3 5LB
United Kingdom
The old sponge material had to be scraped and wiped from the clear plastic underside that protects the heating element and the new material was attached at the top and bottom by staples. All of the edges were carefully tucked under the metal frame etc. and the finished look is pretty good.
For the first few heating cycles there was a slight smell of ‘burning rubber’, but this has now stopped.
