Mend AEG OKO FAVORIT 40300 Dishwasher Flood Wash Cycle

AEG OKO FAVORIT 40300 dishwasher not advancing?

After clearing up after a flood, this machine appears not to be advancing properly. It seems to be getting stuck towards the end of the wash cycle and again in the post wash rinse cycle. Advancing the mechanical controller seems to work but what is causing the problem and is it fixable?
