Re starting my 9800 + alarm system?

My alarm control box is fitted in the airing cupboard.Last year it was covered in towels and linen and displayed an overheating fault.I disabled the alarm system, isolated the power and battery,allowed it all to cool down and removed the linen etc from the box's vicinity.Unfortunately I didn't re-start the system.
I'm looking to re-start the system now, do I simply re-fit the battery,re- power the system and apply the relevant codes, or do I have to i.d. the Reset and Kick Start pins and short them out in order to get the system working again.
