Black & Decker 12V battery pack fails to charge?

I have a rechargeable Firestorm 12V battery pack (model A9275) for a cordless drill. When I try to recharge it, the red "Battery Charging" light flashes on, then is immediately replaced by the green "Battery Full" light. No charging takes place. However I know that the battery is discharged as the drill does not operate when this battery is attached, but will work with a different battery. Any ideas ?

You're probably right, it is quite an old battery - the symptoms just seemed a bit strange. Thanks for the advice.

Battery packs for hand-tools do not last forever - consider that your battery has failed.

Some brave and enterprising people dismantle defective batteries and fit replacement cells - perhaps youTube has videos about how to do it.

Perhaps it's time for a new battery?
