Mend Whirlpool AWM5145/5 Washing Machine Repair Appliance

Whirlpool AWM5145/5 - Power but not working?

My Whirlpool machine has power (light comes on when 'start button' pressed) but then does nothing.
Any suggestions?

Does the door lock ? Does the machine do the spin programme. If the anwser to either question is no it is not the valve

My suggestion is a lack of water - a wm/c will not do anything without water - I guess - I have no experience to fall back on - I guess that the water inlet valve is defective and should be replaced - a relatively easy job.

But I could be wrong
