fix record button function?

recorder dropped a few times. record button will not depress to record. how is this fixed

Un-drop it a few times. Problem solved.

Since you didn't even identify what "recorder" you are talking about we don't have a clue if it's a mechanical or electronic button transport you damaged. Kinda hard to suggest a fix other than - don't drop it in the past.

Well you take it apart and examine it to see why it's misbehaving - nobody here can see what's happening . Nobody here knows the make & model.

It is not wise to drop sensitive electronic devices - even less wise to do it repeatedly.
