turn up revs?

i have a daf lf 45 on a 02 plate it is a cherry picker and i need to turn revs up slightly when using the lift it has the switch on the right hand side of steering wheel that u turn to turn them up but nothing happens when i do this . if anyone can help i would be very gratefull thanks tom
