10mm bolt sheared off gear selector 53 plate transit?

Disconnect the gear selection cables
undo the 6mm bolts around the housing and lift out the gearselector housing , if you are lucky with a sharpe pointed screw driver you can turn the brokern bolt and screw it out, if not you have to drill, use an easyout or re_- tap the thread. Purchase a new bolt from Fords and fit with a dab of locktight. Apply sealant to the housing and refit.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO FISH OUT THE BROKERN BOLT (SOMETIMES THE WHOLE BOLT DROPS INTO THE GEARBOX)
IF YOU DONT IT VERY OFTEN JAMS THE GEARS AND CRACKS THE GEARBOX CASING.
On the later models it is common for the bolt on the outside of the selector assembley to break/ drop out making you loose all your gears.

There is a tool to get studs/snapped bolts out and you can get them online auction sites for about 3 quid a set they are called stud extractors,this is not dragons den stuff they have been around since they made screw threads.Good luck,do some research!

Thanks for replying there must be a like backwards threaded tool to get sheared bolts out if not its the drilling and tapping then invent the tool and go on dragons den ha haa going to gearbox specialist soon as opens see wat he says.then fishing for the bolt head in the box it's killing iz being off the road that walking iz overrated.nice one.

I think Ford only supply the whole selector assy. which is very expensive so it may be worth while having a go at drilling out the broken bolt and tapping out the threads, good luck.
