Mend Optima Plus 2 Security System Battery

Have an opima plus 2 alarm, which we inherited with the house. Had a power ?

Have an Optima plus 2 alarm, which we inherited with the house. Had a power cut the alarm went off and showed A so put in the code and the alarm stopped. Pressed reset button but now E for engineer is showing and it wont do anything. Could it be the battery as I have looked at other questions or do I really need an engineer ? Lived here 2 years, don't now how long battery has been in for.

Sounds like a duff battery mate :)

However one of the personal attack buttons may have been pressed so check ,but it's not uncommon for systems to display weird things if the control panel's backup battery is goosed.

Replace the battery but isolate mains power to the panel before you remove the cover.
