How to fix a surge protector that popped, US plugged into Europe outlet?
I have a Dynex 11-Outlet PC Home/Office surge protector (DX114241) that I brought to Germany and it was plugged into a wall outlet using an adapter. The adapter was not a converter. The protector popped and smoked when brought back to me and wouldn't turn back on even plugging into US outlets. Is there a way to open and test for the issue, possibly replace the component?
I'm not familiar with electronics and the terminology, so as layman as you can get please.
You really are a layman - the device was presented with twice its intended voltage - smoked and stopped working but you thought it might still operate on the correct voltage.
It will be irrevocably broken and beyond economical repair.
I am not convinced that these things are of much value.
It may be difficult to find a 110V replacement in Germany
