Vauxhall corsa 1.0 12V 2001 engine is making a loud clicking sound?

hi my son has a corsa 12v when it was running it lacked power we replaced the battery after it had been standing for a year only to fi nd it ran for a while then cut out ,it started a while later but then stopped altogether and will not start at all,new fuel has been put in but no go ,could it be elrctrical or fuel ,fuel is being pumoed up to the carb but nothing can you help

try not to race your car. seeing as it is only a 1 litre engine it is not used to revving it to 5-6000RPM. so keep it low , the gear changes that is say between 2-3000RPM. Also if the sound has already developed, check if engine oil needs to top up, if so do so. MAKE SURE YOU USE THE RIGHT ENGINE OIL.- VERY IMPORTANT AS USING THE WRONG OIL CAN DAMAGE THE ENGINE BADLY ALSO THE COMPONENTS WHICH ARE CONNECTED TO THE ENGINE. Hope that helps.

Does the oil get changed regularly mate? If it dosnt there could be damage to the bigend bearings. Listen underneath the car and see if the noise gets louder??? If it is these, its probably a garage job if you dont know about cars. Other things it could be is a damaged belt, has it had a cambelt change?? Fanbelt change??? Be easier to diagnose with more info about the sound.
