Mend Replace Bolt Sheared

How do you replace a broken bar/Hex bolt on Sovereign SCS38 Chainsaw?

One of the Bar/Hex bolts sheared off while I was opening the nut on my Sovereign SCS38 chainsaw. I have ordered a new bolt but does anyone know how to replace it. These are the two bolts that hold the Chain guide in place.

It's pressed into the crankcase/oil reservoir from the inside out and then both halves of the crankcase/oil reservoir are re-assembled. You will need a reasonable amount of mechanical skill and knowledge to fit this as it will mean a complete strip down. This kind of job is beyond an economical repair should you wish to pay someone to do it.

Generally they are pressed in the case (splined) from the other side.
I'm afraid you may have to take apart to get at it.
easyish job but just annoying, persevere my friend and just go steady, It will all come together.

Well if it is a bolt then you could push it back into the tank because...

The defining distinction is in their intended purpose: Bolts are for the assembly of two unthreaded components, with the aid of a nut. Screws in contrast are used with components that have at least one containing its own thread. Many screws and bolts can be either, depending on how they are used.

Nevertheless - I have given my all - good luck with the bolt.

Its not a screw its a BOLT. The bolt is put in as part of the assembly of the chainsaw from the inside out. There are two bolts that hold the chain guide in place. When the bolts come through a nut is placed on the outside of the saw to keep the bolt from falling back into the oil tank of the saw. These bolts then protrude out of the saw and the chain guide is placed over it and then another nut is placed over the bolt to keep the chain guide and blade in place. Unfortunately one of the nuts when I opened the nuts to release the chain guide sheared off sheared off level with the chain guide so I only have one nut on the other bolt holding the guide in place.

What I am trying to find out is A) how do I get the broken bolt out and b) how do I get the new bolt in.

I'm sorry I don't understand your problem - a screw with the head sheared off but it's screwed in from the other side? Surely not - it will have been a two headed screw - how could it have been assembled?

If you can see the screw and if you can drill a hole in it then all you need is a screw extractor to drive into the hole.

I wish you continued good luck...

Unfortunately that not really the problem. The problem is that some of the bolt is still there but from what I can see it is coming from the inside of the saw out. My issue is how do I get the bolt out and replace it without taking the whole saw apart. I think it comes through from either a steel plate or from the housing which holds the chain oil. And more importantly how do I get the new bolt in ?

I have tried Einhell UK and Einhell in Germany. they are providing the new bolt but not the instructions on how to replace it.

If you have a screw with the head snapped off you can sometimes remove it with an easy-out (screw extractor) - drill a hole in the sheared off screw - screw in the easy out anti-clockwise - and as you continue to turn the rogue screw comes out.

Amazon sell them.
