Glow-worm Fuelsaver Mk2 - Pilot light won't stay lit?

Hi all,

I have the same boiler as Glen (Mk2 30B, 4131304) and seem to be in pretty much the exact same situation.

I have replaced so far:

New t/c - no effect (£5)
New o/h stat- no effect (£38)

Could the problem be the t/c that is used for sensing the water temp of the system for the stat on the front of the boiler?

If it is the gas valve - Curzon do the 24v~ one (blue connector block) for approx £60 and the 240v~ (black connector block) for about £10 more, both with a grey knob - is there any way of verifying that gas valve is not working? If so how?

I can hear mine click as remove and re-connect one of the orange power leads - so i know its not an power supply issue - but the pilot will not stay alight.

I'm trying to avoid wasting any more money on the problem and would like to know if that is possible.

Any help greatly appreciated.

yes it sounds like the gas valve and yes it needs changing by a corgi registered engineer.before you buy one have a go at cleaning the pilot as if it is partially blocked it may not be heating the t/c lead enough
