Depollution system faulty?

Hi, I'm currently stranded In Norway, my 207 had the depollution warning come on and the car cut out. the AA have taken it to a peugeot garage but they can't seem to find the problem. Do I follow Vic's advice and try and sort it out myself? Just after any advice ? Thank you
