Mend Hygena APL2110 Cooker Fan Replace

how to fit a fan speed switch to to a Hygena APL2110 hood?

The slider button on the switch slides back & forwards but does not affect fan speed, which is stuck on highest speed. I cannot see how to remove the switch or the slider button to see what has to be replaced.
