Mend Peugeot 307 Central Locking Door Lock

How can I fix my lock on a Peugeot 307?

The front passenger door won't lock with the central locking, I've had to take the door panel off and manually lock it from inside the door. Could the locking mechanism be broken? Don't want to buy a new one to find out it isn't that.
