vehicle management system?

recently had a fire to some wires mainly to the lights
they have been repaired and all the fuses have been checked and working but engine wont start
management system wont work to diagnose problem
been told the ecu box might need replacing if so
can i get a second hand one and replace it

it isn`t as easy as just plugging in a new ecu,it will need to go onto Ford IDS to do this but before that would check what fault codes are stored,there is no point guessing to what it could be as you could end up paying a fortune for a still non starting motor.
