Triton Rapide R2 Shower?

Hi All

I have moved into a rented accomodation that has a Triton Rapide R2 Shower. The shower has a problem in that to get it to work you have to push in the case hard when turning the shower on for the switch to engage.

This works and the shower runs, basically anytime I want to use the switch I have to push in the case aswell.

However there is now a new problem that has just started, after say 5 - 10 minutes the shower switches itself off, but it may come back on itself after another 5 - 10 minutes.

When moving into the accomodation the landlord told me about the switch problem as he has lived with it for a while. Is the 2 problems related, if so what could be a possible fix?
