Mend Zanussi aquacycle 1300 Door Washing Machine

How do I fix broken handle-latch connection on door?

The door of my Zanussi studio washing machine (aquacycle 1300) got stuck shut with the handle sticking out at 45 degrees. I git it open using string and now can see that when you pull the handle the latch doesn't move.

So how do I fix the handle now so that when you pull the handle it releases the latch? At the moment if I close the door again we will be back to square one.

take the door totally off,then undo the screws that hold the door together,then carefully pries the front and rear door frames apart.they are push fit together with plastic lugs.this will give you access to the door handle and pin so you can fit a new door handle.
