How can I fix my Sevis RPM 1300 Washing Machine?

The mains electric, earth leakage trips out whenever I try to start the machine, only when a programme is selected, it does not happen when the machine is just turned on
We have had a problem with the door and have to "bang it closed"
Has this damaged the electrical connecions in the door, and will replacing this part sort the problem out?

Or is it something else that may be the problem?
