Mend Peugeot 407 HDI Starting Driving Car

hello,i'am having problems starting my peugeot 407 hdi?

i was driving normal, just got motorway and my car just cut out dead, just before it cut out the engine management light came on. lately a member of my family has been running the car on the reserve on low fuel maybe that could be the cause of it i don't know totally confused please can someone help ?
