I recently cleaned the float of my condenser dryer (indesit is70cuk), but now it seems to rattle. It was a bit greasy before I cleaned it and now my theory is that was what stopped the rattling previously. Could this be? If so what grease should I use and where can I get it from? If this is unlikely to be the problem, how do I go about diagnosing the problem and fixing it or would I be best to buy a new pump alltogether?
its the small bearing in the pump that gone,thats where the grease came from,you cant grease it,just fit new pump (your machine is made by hotpoint indesit owned by them )so check prices for both pumps incase one will be cheaper,there are 3 or 4 pumps for these machines so you may have to take the pump to a dealer to match up the type

since the float is made of polystyrene its not that that's making the noise,its the pump itself just replace it
