my transit turns over but doesnt seem to have the power to fire weve tried ?

ive got a ford transit diesel long wheel base diesel on a 52 plate it turns over but no fire with it so we thought it might be the battery so we tried jumping it thats okay it seems to turn it over faster but then the battery seems to die on us then we wait about 5 mins then the same thing seems to do the same thing whats wrong can anybody help much appreciate it if anybody can

thanks cdc for answering my problem but unfortunately there doesnt seem to be diesel up to the injectors but the person who had it b4 me said it suddenly stopped on him

is there fuel up to injectors when cranking?heater plugs working?filters checked and up to date?
