Mend Hotpoint WD440 Locked Light

how to fix my hotpoint washer dryer WD440?

how can i fix my hotpoint washer dryer, the door locks and unlocks but the door locked light will not come on alone to tell the machine it is locked so start washing, although it does come on with all the other lights when i end a program. thanks
