Radio code locked permanently?

Nissan Micra 2003
My radio shows 'wait 1 hour' as the code was put in wrongly. Despite waiting longer than 1 hour, it still won't allow me to put in the correct code. I have disconnected the battery to try and clear the message, but it is still saying 'wait 1 hour'. Please help!
