if it happens to be a convoy/pilot -there are 2 holes in one end of pin,these go to the top, so you can turn pin to align cotter pin slot.as for which way you put pin in,top or bottom dosent matter!

what matters is no one has a clue what sort of van you have,I will make a guess,LDV Convoy/Pilot-it doesn`t matter.
