Kitchen Aid - speed lever?

Steve's response means that my KitchenAid is working again - but how do you replace the speed lever? The black covering of mine has come off and I have the replacement but can't easily work out which screws to undo to get to the lever.

Phillip, here is a link to the service manual for the mixer, it will show you how to take the mixer apart, replace the speed control lever and put the mixer back together.
